2013 Election In the Philippines

Election season is here (Philippines). The last time I first experienced the automated election using basically a scanner machine that broadcasts the results of the precint election to a central hub. That was May 2010 and it was the quickest election in memory. Everyone knew who won the next day. No simmering fear of violence or post election political upheaval. It was a very unique experience.

This time it is midterm elections plus local elections. It will be hotter, people will be more concerned and candidates will push their hands and their faces to compete for our attention. During Holy week a crew was asking me if they could install banners and signs on my roof. I said no. They left. But I saw one of their banners on my neighbor’s roof across the street.
